I’m actually very pleased this week because I didn’t get many books! I know that sounds crazy but I think it’s the first week in ages I haven’t bought anything.

Showcase Sunday (4)- The Shadowhunter Edition

SSsmall

Inspired by Pop Culture Junkie and the Story Siren, the aim of Showcase Sunday is to highlight our newest books or book related swag and to see what everyone else received for review, borrowed from libraries, bought in bookshops and downloaded onto eReaders each week. It is hosted by Vicky from Books, Biscuits and Tea.

I’ve decided to do Showcase Sunday again because I like the interactivity of it and talking to new bloggers is one of my favourite things to do.

I have a really good haul this week with some very exciting books featured. I can’t wait to read them all! Sorry for the bad quality of photo; the place where I usually take them is messy and I wanted to show the covers of some of the books.

Bought:

showcasesunday11-8-2013 001

The Mortal Instruments: City of Bones Official Illustrated Movie Companion- I saw this and couldn’t think of buying anything else because it has the most gorgeous pictures and offers a real insight into the making of the film.

This came with a free rune charm which I’ve since added to a chain and wear as a necklace.

Letterbox Love (18)

Letterbox Love

Letterbox Love is a UK based feature where book bloggers showcase the books that they received that week, be they e-books, paperbacks, hardbacks or any other format. It is hosted by Lynsey from Narratively Speaking.

This is my book haul for the past three weeks because I was busy moving to WordPress and posting my UKYA fortnight posts. I counted how many books I got and it totals 21…Maybe I need to go on a book-buying ban soon. I think so!

Bought:

book haul 2-8-2013 001

Walking Disaster by Jamie McGuire- So I went to The Works on Friday and picked this up. There was this huge controversy surrounding it a few months ago (it probably wasn’t that long ago) and so it caught my attention then and it does sound really good.

Hallowed by Cynthia Hand- I didn’t enjoy Unearthly that much but I couldn’t resist this when I saw it.

Poison Study by Maria V. Snyder- This is extremely naughty of me to buy because I already have it on my Kindle to read but it sounds so good and I’m more likely to read it if it’s sat in front of me.

Poison Heart by S.B. Hayes- I don’t think I’ve heard of this one before but it’s got me intrigued and so I’m crossing my fingers I’ll enjoy it.

book haul 2-8-2013 002

Dead Jealous by Sharon Jones- I’ve wanted to read this one for a while now because I’m trying to read more thriller/crime-y novels. It’s UKYA, too!

Burn for Burn by Jenny Han and Siobhan Vivian- I saw Amber’s tweets about the sequel to this one so I thought I should try out the first one. The cover is so gorgeous and I just want to stroke it…

The D.U.F.F by Kody Keplinger- I read Cass’ review and instantly started craving this book. I scoured the book shop for it but couldn’t find it and then just as I was about to go this book caught my eye and it was this one! I’m really eating up contemporary novels at the moment.

Charity Shop Finds:

book haul 2-8-2013 003

Northern Lights by Philip Pullman- I’m probably one of the only people who hasn’t read this yet, which is terrible of me. I’m such an awful reader!

Life at the Shallow End by Helen Bailey- I loved Running in Heels by this author and was super pleased when I managed to pick this one out.

The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett- I read this for school last year but didn’t have my own copy and so was really pleased when I found this. It’s one of my favourite classics.

Broken Soup by Jenny Valentine- This one sounds really good and I love the cover.

The Knife of Never Letting Go by Patrick Ness- I have had enough of not knowing what anyone is on about when people talk about this book. Sadly, some of it has been spoiled for me, but I’ll try and forget about that.

My Mad Fat Diary by Rae Earl- This one sounds so good and right up my street. And it has battenburg cake on the back which I may just have to eat…

Lock & Key by Sarah Dessen- This will be my third Sarah Dessen book and I’m really looking forward to starting it.

Before I Die by Jenny Downham- I’ve already read this but I had to buy my own copy when I saw it because it’s such a beautiful book.

Letterbox Love (16)

Letterbox Love is a UK based feature where book bloggers showcase the books that they received that week, be they e-books, paperbacks, hardbacks or any other format. It is hosted by Lynsey from Narratively Speaking.

Last weekend I did a car boot and got rid of a lot of stuff so this meant that I earned a bit of money and spent it on…books! What else? I also had a really fab letter in the post which really did make my day.
Bought:

Going Vintage by Lindsey Leavitt- I love the sound of this one- a girl who dismisses all technology. I know  it’s something I couldn’t do so I’m really interested in seeing how this is written.
The Moon and More by Sarah Dessen- I’ve only ever read one Sarah Dessen book and I’m currently reading this and really enjoying it. I’m on a bit of a contemporary kick at the moment.
Attachments by Rainbow Rowell- I’ve already read this (review to be posted tomorrow) and I loved it so much.
Shadow and Bone by Leigh Bardugo- I had to find out what all the fuss was about, didn’t I? I can’t wait to start this one because I’ve heard amazing things about it.
Received:

This photo really doesn’t do this justice, but anyway. I’ve been ill for the past few days and this really cheered me up. It’s from Amber at The Mile Long Bookshelf and it’s a gorgeous bookmark which I started using immediately, and a few little notes. Thank you so much, Amber! You really are the best.

This isn’t a very good picture (sorry!) so you really can’t see the awesomeness of this swag. I won this Cinder swag pack from Jessica at Booked Up! and I was so excited when I got it. It also came with a signed book plate.

I had a relatively small haul this week but am, as always, really pleased with what I did get. I’ve decided to only show one picture this week because I’m incredibly lazy and have been up all night due to somebody’s birthday. I am very tired.

Numbers 3: Infinity by Rachel Ward- I attended an event where Rachel Ward and C.J. Skuse were talking and so I bought this to get signed. I really love the golden orange cover.

Signed

The Drowning by Rachel Ward- I already had this but got it signed and I also got a cute little postcard with the cover on.
