Interview with Zoe from Bookhi

Today we have an interview with Zoe from Bookhi! I’m a massive fan of Zoe’s blog and am always stopping by so it is a huge honour to be able to interview her! She’s also a great bloggy friend of mine.
My questions in bold, Zoe’s answers in italics.

1. Why did you start blogging?

I started blogging simply because it looked fun. Once upon a time I was very bored so I started to browse the interweb, and stumbled across the book blogosphere. After a few weeks of being in awe of the people who owned them, I decided to start my own. I definitely won’t be bored again and I don’t regret it at all! When I first started, I didn’t even know that you could get sent books for review. I didn’t know what memes are and it took me a while to work out what ARCs and YA is (*blushes*). I have been blogging for two years but have only started blogging properly recently. I love to share my thoughts on books and talk to people who feel the same way.

2. So far, what is the best thing that has come out of blogging?

Definitely the people. Receiving a new follower and a comment always brightens my day and I love it when I receive positive feedback, especially when people post meaningful comment. I have made so many friends via the Internet and I just love to talk to people who are like me and love ranting about books. I only know a couple of people face to face who like reading and they don’t really like what I like, so it is awesome to come home from school and just blab about reading. I could ramble for ages about what I love about it, so I think I’ll stop now;)

3. Outside of your blogging life, what is your favourite thing to do?

Hmm… reading? 😉 If blogging and reading don’t count then I would have to say… writing. (hmm, also fairly predictable but oh well). I also love listening to music, spending time with my friends and family, karate and watch films. When I’m not blogging I am usually am watching TV though… especially Friends, The Big Bang Theory, Miranda, How I Met Your Mother, Victorious, Doctor Who and comedy panel shows.

4. What would you say to anyone who doesn’t like reading?

YOU DO REALLY! YOU JUST HAVEN’T TRIED A GOOD BOOK! *thrusts an amazing YA book at them and commands them to not speak until they have read it*
Well… that would be my preferred choice. I would probably say something like: Not all books are fantastic, some are amazing to some and boring to others. Find a book that is good for you and read more books of that genre/author. Reading isn’t nerdy or geeky or uncool, it is just going into a world that it so much better than yours and having adventures with characters. Books aren’t pure Shakespeare either – you will be surprised how books can influence your life.

5. If you could meet any fictional book character, who would it be?

Hermione Granger. I think I am a lot like her and she would be such a great person to know… and she would probably bring Harry and Ron along so I could meet them too! Hehe, loophole;)

6. When you first started blogging, did you expect to get where you are today?

Not at all! I still dream about having thousands of followers but I am happy with what I have achieved. I am not the best book blogger out there but I am still proud when an author/publisher want me to review their book. Like I mentioned before, when I started I hardly knew anything about the book blogosphere. And now… I don’t think I could live without it.

7. Do you have any advice to give to future book bloggers?

Create a blog asap! It is an amazing experience! Gather knowledge before you start a book blog so you can start off with a good blog. Make a sleek design that looks professional but not boring. And finally, blog because you love books, not for free books or any other bonuses. You may land yourself in a blogging slump but don’t lose faith, just take a break for a few weeks and come back fresh and relaxed. Good luck!

8. What are your favourite book blogs?

Do you have a few years? Because this may take a while…. get ready for the long list! Ahem. Booktastic Reviews, **Singing and Reading in the Rain**, Bookster Reviews, Never Judge a Book, Page-turner, The Book Parade, Realm of Fiction, A Reading Daydreamer, Blog of a Bookaholic, Alex’s Bookish Blog, Booked Up!, The Teen Book Guru, The Beaucoup Review, Ebony Black Lines, and (of course) YOURS! 😀

And now…

Favourites!

Book? Tricky… this changes every week but I’ll have to say The Fault in Our Stars by John Green. 🙂
TV Programme? The Big Bang Theory! 😀
Sport? I am not the biggest fan of sport but I do karate and I enjoy that.
Food? Pizza! 😛
Song? This changes all the time but I love the song How To Save a Life by The Fray. I also love anything by Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and The Script.

Thank you so much for interviewing me, Lucy! Great questions! 😀
