Carly Bennet Blog Talk/ Chicken House Teen Event Recap

As part of a scheme that ran at my local library, I managed to go to two events last week and was able to show my face in public, something that I normally don’t want to do (but my books are at home! How can I live without my laptop?!). I’m so glad I did go because I had an amazing time and got to meet some really special people.
On Thursday night, Carly Bennett from Writing from the Tub hosted a blogging talk where she spoke about all things blogging, how to set up your own blog and gave little tips out that we could follow. I’ll be writing a post next week about how I’m going to be changing certain aspects of my blog because of this, and I’d just like to thank Carly for hosting such a brilliant event. I also got to meet Sophie from So Many Books, So Little Time there which was really nice because she runs one of my favourite book blogs. I felt like I finally belonged and Carly did talk a lot about how us book bloggers have such a wonderful community. Thank you, Carly!
On Saturday, Barry Cunningham, C.J. Skuse, Lucy Christopher and Rachel Ward came in to talk all things books and I had such a fun time. Barry Cunningham was the man who discovered J.K. Rowling and so it was very interesting to hear about that, as well as the authors talking about their own novels.
The Young Writing Squad also read out some of their pieces which were really good and it was an overall brilliant day.

After the event on Saturday, I managed to get my copies of Dead Romantic and Stolen signed, as well as two copies of Rockoholic and Numbers that I bought there.

Once again, I must thank my library for holding these events, Carly Bennett for being amazing and the authors, young writers and event organisers for making my week so fun.

Carly’s workshop really was great and it was so lovely to meet you as well! Such a shame I couldn’t make it to the Chicken House event.

Oh, wow! I am unbelievably jealous of you, Lucy! 😀 My library doesn’t host awesome events like this, I went to one which was supposed to be a teenage book convention or something… but it was a bunch of whiney 5 year olds complaining about how they don’t like books -.-
I love Chicken House! The talk from Barry Cunningham sounds interesting, I am a huge fan of Harry Potter. Carly’s event sounds amazing too, and meeting Sophie must have been great. 🙂
    Thanks for sharing!
