#ukyachat is a bi-weekly chat hosted on Twitter discussing YA fiction – previous topics have included LGBTQ+ fiction, mental health, friendship and hope and resilience. The chat was originally founded to raise awareness of books written by UK authors of young adult fiction but has since branched out to include YA books on a global scale.
Who can join in with #ukyachat?
#ukyachat is open to anyone with a love or interest in YA fiction – you don’t have to live in the UK or sign up officially. Log in to Twitter on the day and start tweeting!
We have people from all over the world join in, from bloggers to authors to librarians and people who want to spend all day talking about books.
What’s the best way to join in with the chat?
I recommend using TweetDeck if you are planning on participating. TweetDeck allows you to set out your Twitter feed into columns so you can track the #ukyachat hashtag live and ensure you don’t miss any tweets.
The chat starts at 8pm UK time and the hashtag can be followed throughout the hour. It is important to include the hashtag in your tweets so that other people can find them and it’s best if your account is not set to private during the chat.
I’m an author. Can I be a guest on a chat?
You can visit my contact page for details on how to get in touch. At this moment in time, only traditionally published authors can be guest authors (although this is subject to change at any point) and often it is easier for your publicist to get in touch. Chats are booked months in advance so please allow for this if you decide to get in touch.
