Laurel turned to the mirror again, her eyes on the hovering petals that floated beside her head. They looked almost like wings.
In this extraordinary tale of magic and intrigue, romance and danger, everything you thought you knew about faeries will be changed forever.

What can I say about this book that will give it the justice it deserves? I read this in April and managed to finish it within a day; it was that good. I struggled at first to get into it but, once you get through a few chapters, it was really hard to put down. I don’t think I actually got up for a few hours.
The plot is really good, and original. I haven’t read a book similar before. I had read mixed reviews on this book and decided to give it a go myself and see what my own opinion was. One of the things that kept me reading was the love triangle. I’m Team Tamani all the way!
The main character is Laurel, and the author really makes you feel sympathy towards her. Discovering a massive lump on your back can’t be easy!
I never really liked David. I found him quite annoying at times. As the book went on, I began to like him a little more, but, for me, he will never live up to Tamani.
What can I say about Tamani? I instantly fell in love with him! This is one of those books that I won’t forget, even when I move on to another.
I really liked the cover. The other cover isn’t so nice and I’m so glad I bought the better cover. The colours go really well, and all the text shows up nicely.
Overall I really enjoyed this book. However, I was a little annoyed at the writing style. I found that each sentence, particularly at the start, was beginning with ‘Laurel’ this and ‘Laurel’ that.
MY RATING: 5/5
