A 2015 Year In Review

2015 has been an incredible, whirlwind year. I can’t believe we’re now going into 2016! I thought that it would be nice to look back on the year that has passed and share some of my favourite moments! Starting Book Pigs! At the start of the year, I started a blog on Tumblr called Book Pigs, where I share pictures of some of my guinea pigs with books. It’s taken me by surprise just how much people have fallen in love with my piggies and it’s also made me try and up my photography game. It’s one of the best jobs,…

5 Books That Changed My Life

Some books you can read and forget about after a few months, but there are others that stay with you for a long time afterwards. There are also those books that will always stick with you, no matter what, and have affected your life in some way. Here are a few of mine: Jessie Hearts NYC by Keris Stainton I love books for a wide range of reasons, but one of the main ones is because they’re always there when I need them most. When I was 12, a few months before I started my blog, my granddad died and it…

Books and Influence

If I were to have a long list of every single book I’ve ever read, I’d like to think that each one has changed me in some way. Personally, I see reading as an experience. I want to be shaped by the books I’ve read and when I’ve finished I want to feel as if I’ve changed in some way. Perhaps the books that have shaped me the most are the Stonewylde series by Kit Berry, which I return to again and again. I first read them when I was eleven years old and, unlike many of you, I never had Harry Potter to…

About Me

Hi! I'm Lucy Powrie, a book blogger and YouTuber from the UK. I have a wild obsession with the Brontë sisters, love reading YA books, and have lots and lots of guinea pigs. Sunday Diary | #1

Sunday Diary is a new feature I’d like to start on the blog, where I chat about all the things that have happened since the past Sunday. It’s a chance for me to ramble away and hopefully you’ll learn a bit about me at the same time. Last Sunday was the Autumn Equinox, and a very special day that means a lot to me. The day before I made lots of cakes, and it was nice to feel so spiritual and at one with the earth. It was also my best friend’s birthday so I spent the day in the woods…

Obsessed With… Stonewylde!

Obsessed With… is a new feature where I discuss something (usually a book series) that I can’t stop obsessing over and the story behind it.  Today I’m going to be talking about the book series I am most obsessed with. If you know me well enough, you can probably guess what it is! I’ve done various posts on the Stonewylde series before but I want to go into a bit more detail this time and really talk about my personal experiences and what they mean to me, because they mean an awful lot. Above is my Stonewylde shelf – yes, an…

The Multiple Copy Obsession

I’m a sucker for gorgeous books, I really am. There’s obviously not a problem with this; I do tend to judge books by their covers before I read them, but sometimes something overcomes me and I need to buy more and more copies of books. One is never enough! If you’ve watched any of my YouTube videos, or seen pictures of my bookcase, you may have noticed some of the multiple copies on my shelves. A question I’m frequently asked is: ‘Why do you have three copies of The Fault in Our Stars?’ That is a very good question indeed. My…

Stacking the Shelves (15)- The Review Book Edition

Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! It is hosted by Tynga’s Reviews. I didn’t post a book haul last week so this is my haul for the past fortnight. Bought: The Elites by Natasha Ngan- I pre-ordered this one months ago and am so happy to finally receive it! The cover is gorgeous and it looks great alongside my other…

I Am a Book Addict…

If you’ve read a few of my book hauls, then it’s no secret that I seem to get loads of books each week. Why? Because I am a major bo0k buying, borrowing and requesting addict. When it comes to books, I have absolutely no self-restraint whatsoever. I’ve always had some collecting addiction. When I was younger, it was Sylvanian Families. I was a massive collector and my room was FULL of them. Then it’s slowly turned to books, especially over the last year or two. Particularly last year, I went through a stage where I read a book a day and…
