For some people, a love of reading develops later on in life, but Iāve always loved reading. Iāve been wanting to write this post for ages now, but Iāve never got around to it. Finally, Iām going to reminisce on my reading life so far!
Iāve always been extremely intellectual, reading massive tomes right from the start. Just kidding⦠Here I am pretending to be all clever, sporting this beast of a book, but I doubt I could actually read it⦠Maybe Iāve always enjoyed simply being around books!
When I was really young, my favourite books were Bob the Builder themed, and I still have them to this day, although theyāre in an awful state - ripped, chewed and god knows what else!
Here I am reading with my mum. Some of my earliest memories are of going to the library every week. When I was around two, we would go to the library, come back home, read 10-15 books and then promptly fall asleep.
Most kids, when theyāre younger, have bedtime stories, and I was no different. However, I would never be able to go to sleep because Iād want to read more and more. My mum just said to me, āI should have known then, shouldnāt I?!ā
I used to love a programme called Fetch the Vet on TV and here I am opening the book on one of my birthdays! My hair used to be so blondeā¦
The first author I ever met was Dick King Smith in my local library and I can remember listening to him read from one of his stories, Thinderella, and afterwards I got my copy of Puppy Love signed, which is such a cute book!
I was also an avid reader of Beatrix Potter, and visited the exhibition and her home, Hill Top Farm, in the Lake District. I can still remember it so clearly!
Her books are so quaint and, as an animal lover, I find them so sweet!
Obviously, I was six in this picture and I can remember opening this present quite well! Iāve always loved getting books for my birthday. Okay, I love getting books, full stop.
Now onto the pictures Iād rather not show because I look awful in them, but Iām going to be braveā¦
This isnāt a very bookish photo, but I think it sums me up very well, surrounded by all my bookish mess. My chair (I now have a different one though) is constantly overflowing, which does slightly damage my books sometimes and then makes them cry in pain⦠and me too!
Here I am reading Shadows at Stonewylde, or possibly re-reading it because Iāve read it quite a few times now. I can remember the day I got the copy so, so vividly because my mum wouldnāt let me read it until we came back home and I negotiated so I could at least read the prologue. I am deeply in love with the series and, as you can see, I am very engrossed!
Kit was also one of the first authors I met and I was so starstruck. Before then I donāt think I realised that authors were real people
And finally, a very momentous occasion, the first time I read the final Harry Potter book! Itās not a very good photo, I know, but I feel like it is a very important one. Iāll never read it for the first time again!

Loved this post! I found some old pictures of me reading the other day⦠One that made me laugh was one of me sitting in a chair at about two years old completely absorbed in a teletubbies book⦠I had such good taste xD
