I really enjoyed the State of Grace too when I read it earlier in the year. I think that Steffi and Rhys in A Quiet Kind of Thunder have quite a realistic romance as they have to navigate a lot of issues and it doesn’t all get wrapped up in a neat bow at the end x

I hadn’t heard of this before, but I am definitely keen to read more about Asperger’s in fiction in general, particularly YA and especially when it’s done well, so I will definitely pick this up. And I agree - sometimes it’s better to have a slower-paced books where you can really feel the characters. Lovely review, Lucy. xo

I like romances and relationships that develop over a number of months, rather than over the course of a few days. So Willowdean and Bo in Dumplin’, or Anna and Etienne. I also like it when the characters have an established interest in each other before the start of the story. It just feels less instalove-y that way!
